Abstract

We are writing this letter in response to the article published by Aguilar et al. [1] where the authors highlighted the importance of early identification of group O platelet donors with critical anti-A/-B antibody titers in order to prevent passive transfusion of antibodies to non-O group recipients. In this study the authors identified that one out of two or three apheresis platelet donors of blood group O, had at least one critical titer of anti-A or anti-B IgM or IgG antibodies, that we thought was too high in number.
