Abstract

Expressions describing the asymptotic behavior of the screened Coulomb interaction between electrons on the surface of an empty cylinder (a nanotube) are derived. It is shown that the axially symmetric part of the potential experiences a logarithmically weak screening, while the higher harmonics are screened according to the dielectric mechanism.
