Abstract

AbstractActinomycetes were tested for antimicrobial and antimycobacterial activity with less known habitats. Crude extracts have been evaluated against normal Mycobacterium tuberculosis strain and drug-sensitive and drug-resistant clinical isolates were tested with crude extract of Actinobacteria by luciferase reporter phage (LRP) assay. Significant change in antimycobacterial activity throughout filtrates of actinomycete culture and solvent extracts was noted. The secondary metabolite of unusual ecosystem actinomycetes are intended to antagonize species in their respective environments. These are likely to be new antimycobacterial agents, since infectious agents are unknown.Key wordsActinomycetesLuciferase reporter phage (LRP)Antimycobacterial Mycobacterium tuberculosis
