Abstract

Background: Adverse childhood experiences (ACE) and unmet social needs (USN) disproportionately affect minority families and are risk factors for toxic stress and poor health outcomes. Early identification and management can mitigate harmful effects. Targeted screening is recommended, but previous work in a high-risk population suggests that parents underreport child ACE when screened, for reasons that are presently unclear.
