Abstract

The plasma screening effect on the ionization threshold law for double electron escape into the continuum of a residual ion is investigated in weakly coupled plasmas. The screened re-normalized electron charge due to the electron-electron interaction and the plasma screening effect is obtained as a function of the Debye length, position, and nuclear charge. The screened Wannier exponent for the double ionization cross section is obtained as a function of the Debye length and nuclear charge. It is found that the plasma screening effect significantly reduces the re-normalized electron charge. It is also found that the screened Wannier exponent slightly increases with increasing the Debye length.
