Abstract

In this issue of Immunity, Xu etal. reveal that dermal dendritic cells produce interleukin-31, which acts on neurons to promote wound itch. Their findings link itch associated with deeper wounds-wounds that extend beyond the epithelium-to the cells and cytokines that mediate wound healing.
