Abstract

In April 1991 Scottish Enterprise was set up from the merger of the Scottish Development Agency and the Training Agency in Scotland. The new system will deliver a range of economic development and training services through a network of private sector-led local enterprise companies. They will have a major impact upon land use planning. This article considers this initiative, outlining some of the threats that it will pose to the statutory system as well as indicating some of the benefits that might arise.
