Abstract

Clinical experience with scorpion evenomation in 100 children is presented. Lytic cocktail therapy alone or in combination with steroids was found useful in the treatment of peripheral circulatory failure. Addition of atropine in cases with bradycardia yielded good results. Twenty-two children admitted with moderate to severe symptoms died of neurological complications and toxic myocarditis. The variable fatality rate in different series indicates the variable effect of scorption venom depending on the species.
