Abstract
Every generation learns skills and acquires knowledge differently. The current generation of surgical residents are action-based, visual learners. Research has found that generational change in attitudes and techniques of learning in surgical residents is influenced by the 80-hour work week, reduced clinical exposure, and decreased hands-on operating experience.1 Surgical students have abandoned physical libraries and hardcopy textbooks and journals for easily accessible online learning material.
