Abstract

A description and detailed illustration of Scolopsyllus colombianus , n. gen. and sp. from Colombia are presented. Comments pertaining to the systematic position and affinities of this new taxon are given. It is also remarked that some of its features, particularly the possession of a pronotal comb, modify the criteria that presently define the family Rhopalopsyllidae.
