Abstract

The effect of sulphide shape on cold forming properties of SCM22Ca-S free cutting steel containing 0.20%C, 1.00%Cr, 0.20%Mo and 0.05% were investigated.The results ob'ained are as follows.1) Sulphide shape ratio (width/length) increases linearly with the addition of Al, Zr, and V.2) Cold forming properties of SCM 22 Ca-S are improved with increasing the sulphide shape ratio, and beyond the sulphide shape ratio of 0.6 cold forming properties become comparable to SCM22 (Base steel).
