Abstract

A 38-year-old male patient reported for a routine dental evaluation. During the intraoral exam, a painless, soft, purple sessile lesion measuring 2 × 2 cm was observed on the right side of the lower lip, which was present for 5 years. The patient reported that it appeared after trauma due to a motorcycle accident. Vascular malformation was suggested as a clinical diagnosis, which was confirmed because the lesion was positive to diascopy. Due to the size and location of the lesion, treatment using 5% monoethanolamine oleate (MO) was proposed. The 3 sclerotherapy sessions, 1-week intervals, were performed with MO diluted in endovenous saline solution on 1:4 proportion with 2 mL injected at each session. The lesion responded very well to the treatment and by 1 week after the third session it was no longer visible. The patient is now under 6-month follow-up without recurrence.
