Abstract
Sclerosing encapsulating peritonitis (SEP), or abdominal cocoon syndrome is a rare condition of unknown etiology in which intestinal obstruction results from encasement of variable lengths of bowel by a dense fibrocollagenous membrane. It is difficult to diagnose and the prognosis is poor.
