Abstract

The article is devoted to the scientometric analysis of chess as a scientific direction in Russia and abroad. As part of the study, an assumption made about the lack of due attention to the presented scientific topics in our country and the outstripping growth in the countries of Europe and North America. An assessment is made of a pool of publications on the subject in the Scopus and RSCI databases, highlighting the structure and research fronts, a critical assessment of the relevance and particularly affected organizations dealing with a given problem. The expertise of scientific publications has been implemented, which are concentrated in publications on the subject and their scientometric indicators. The conclusion is formulated about the increased interest in the thematic block from various aspects of special knowledge, while the most promising advantage is the study of chess by mathematicians and specialists in the field of artificial intelligence, which is extremely important for the journal. The study conducted in the sectoral appropriation of scientometrics (computer sciences) will be interesting to consider, not only with digital competencies, but also for specialists in the field of scientific data analysis.
