Abstract
The methods and means of communication with the viewer in the video art and installation genre with the help of research and scientific experiments are investigated. It has been found that research methods are reflected in the work of many artists for whom “scientific experiment” and “computer simulation” are the main means of artistic expression. The correlation of science and art in such works, the mutual influence of various scientific practices within the same work of art. It is proved that in the absence of a scientific base and technological progress, the presented objects could not be created by traditional narrative and graphic means. In the context of scientific experiments and 3D computer simulations, the creative activity of artists such as John Gerrard, Varena Friedrich, and the Waltz Binaire media group is identified and juxtaposed.
