Abstract
“The ethos of our foreign policy should not be flawed by intellectual parochialism; our policy and outlook need not fall into the crack between the two cultures.” The lecturer, Dr. James R. Killian, was addressing the U.S. Foreign Service Institute's seminar on the interaction between science and technology and foreign affairs. The following article is based upon the seminar lecture; a report on the seminar itself appears on page 43. Dr. Killian is chairman of the MIT Corporation and was appointed by President Eisenhower as the first official science adviser to an American president.
