Abstract

This chapter gives an overview about the current situation of science education in Tunisia. Specifically, it starts by giving an overview about the country and its education development. It then discusses the current situation of science education in Tunisia, where it presented the implemented policies for science education, students’ achievement in this field and the used emerging technologies related to science education. While science education outcomes are rapidly progressing in the country, it is seen that more efforts are further needed, for instance, to adopt emerging technologies, such as VR and AI in public schools. Besides, based on the current situation of education science, this chapter presents some requirements for future development in this field. For example, it is very important to encourage science learning in many contexts and throughout the lifespan, as well as involving different stakeholders (e.g., researchers) in the development and design of governmental education policies.KeywordsEducationScience educationEducation systemTunisia
