Abstract
Sciatic nerve damage is a serious complication of revision hip arthroplasty. We report a case of severe posterior thigh pain produced by sciatic nerve irritation from stainless steel mesh used to reconstruct the proximal femur. The symptoms were not associated with any neurological deficit or electromyographic changes. Surgeons should be aware that nerve compression or irritation is one cause of pain after hip arthroplasty, and the neurological presentation may be atypical.
