Sci‐fi film used as tool to teach Earth science

Abstract

A new Hollywood science fiction film about scientists who try to reactivate the Earth's inner core enlisted several geoscientists as technical advisors and is presenting some teachers with a good educational tool.“The Core,” a Paramount Pictures production that opened in theaters across the United States on 28 March, engaged a handful of Earth scientists as technical advisors to create a somewhat plausible scenario about the inner Earth that director Jon Amiel has called “science faction.”
