Abstract

The i.r. (gas phase, Ne and Ar matrix) and Raman (liquid and solid state) spectra of CF 3SCl were investigated. It was possible to identify all fundamentals as well as several combination bands. A 25-parameter harmonic force field was calculated from the 12 fundamentals (gas phase frequencies) and 12 frequency shifts (matrix) of four isotopic species. Thermodynamic properties in the temperature range between the boiling point of 272.3–1000 K are tabulated. Infrared spectra of three different isotopically enriched SCl 2 species in Ne matrices were recorded. The stretching modes ν 1 and ν 3 were assigned unambiguously and the General Harmonic Valence Force Field (GVFF) was calculated.
