Abstract

Age, rectal examination, PSA level and the Gleason score are factors to consider in the treatment of patients with prostate cancer. A normal rectal examination, PSA level less than 10 ng/ml and a Gleason score below 7 are good prognostic factors. However, capsular invasion and extra-prostatic involvement are frequently found in the surgical specimen. The aim of this study is to analyze the association among several variables of the trans-rectal biopsy and poor prognostic findings in the radical prostatectomy (RP) specimen.
