Abstract

This study examined school plant management and secondary school teachers’ job motivation in Calabar South Local Government Area of Cross River State, Nigeria. To achieve the purpose of the study four research hypotheses were posed to guide the study. The instrument used for data collection were a 30-item questionnaire named School Plant Management and Teachers’ Job Motivation Questionnaire (SPMTJMQ) constructed by the researcher. Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was used as statistical tool for data analysis. Each of the hypotheses was tested at .05level of significance. The findings of the study revealed that there was significant relationship between school sites, nature of school building, availability of instructional facilities, availability of recreational facilities and secondary school teachers’ job motivation in Calabar. Based on the findings of the study, it was recommended among others that, both government and private school administrators should see to the need of making available adequate learning resources, provide basic housing accommodation (school building) like classroom, staffroom, library and laboratory for both students and their teachers in order to encourage teaching-learning activities within the school system
