Abstract

ABSTRACT Institutions of higher education are seeking to establish partnership arrangements with primary schools to conform with the government's demand for a substantial increase in so‐called school‐based initial teacher training. There appears to be little guidance for headteachers to help them make important decisions about their involvement in this area of teacher education. This article explores some of the main issues that primary school headteachers will need to consider and it provides guidance for decision making.
