Abstract
The article summarises the approach of Staffordshire LEA to supporting school improvement through district teams, the provision of useful data, the Staffordshire School Improvement Initiative and a developing approach to continuing professional development. It outlines the County's approach to the implementation of the National Literacy Strategy. The emphasis is on a pragmatic, problem-solving approach to meeting the needs of schools.
