Abstract

Background With a growing interest in autologous fat grafting, this method is now widely used for soft tissue filling in aesthetic and reconstructive surgery. The technique can provide good clinical outcomes, provided that it is well mastered. However, many parameters can influence adipose graft survival, including fat harvesting, the fat processing technique and fat injection into the recipient site. While protocols differ between surgeons, there is a real will to refine the technique, in order to limit fat resorption after grafting and improve long-term clinical outcomes.
