Abstract
Schistosomiasis is one of the most widespread human parasitic infections with more than 200 million people infected worldwide. The disease is caused by a range of parasite species of the genus Schistosoma, whose host is snails living in fresh water. Human infection results from direct contact with infected water. Schistosomiasis commonly involves the urinary tract, intestines, and liver and less frequently the lungs, spleen, genital system, and skin. Schistosomiasis of the breast is very rare.
