Abstract
The problem of the ambiguities associated with the use of different renormalizationschemes in perturbative quantum field theory is investigated. A procedure that makes it possible to express all observablesunambiguously in terms of a set of basic observables is described. Renormalization-group equations for the basic observables are constructed. The case of a massive theory is considered.
