Abstract

A database is maintained at the server and broadcast to mobile clients. While data are broadcast, many resources are updating data at the server. Such concurrent transactions must be controlled to maintain consistency and currency of data received by the mobile clients. Through client side caching, feedback control mechanism and careful network management, it is possible to provide acceptable performance in mobile environment for read requests and write updates, even with low bandwidth connection. This paper describes sharing of weak network connections between read and write data traffic, controlling concurrency between update and broadcast transactions to maintain consistency and currency.
