Abstract

An SCF—HF ab initio calculation of the energy surface for the reaction CFCl 3 − + H → CHFCl 2 + Cl − has been performed. The interest of this study is related to the description of chlorofluorocarbon behaviour in the atmosphere. Details of the physical hypothesis and of the method are described; a bimolecular mechanism and the energy variation involved are also presented.
