Abstract

The problem of scattering of vertically polarized electromagnetic waves from underground cylindrical objects is investigated in this paper. The analysis used here can be considered to be an extension of previous integral-equation techniques dealing with the horizontal-polarization scattering problem from underground tunnels or conducting wires. Numerical data for the far-field region of buried cylindrical objects are plotted and some interesting conclusions based on these results are discussed and compared with those of the horizontal scattering problem.
