Abstract
The propagation of surface elastic waves in an anisotropic inhomogeneous medium modelled by two vertically inhomogeneous anisotropic quarter-spaces and a thick vertically inhomogeneous anisotropic layer welded between the quarter-spaces is considered. The Green's function technique is applied to derive a set of equations for determination of scattering coefficients of the layer. Numerical results of Rayleigh-wave scattering by anisotropic versus isotropic layers are presented and discussed.
