Abstract

The fixed-nuclei approximation is used to investigate elastic and momentum transfer cross sections for collision between a positron with incident energy less than 10 eV and a hydrogen molecule. The scattering wavefunctions and phase shifts thus obtained are used to calculate the rotational excitation cross section in the adiabatic-nuclei approximation, and also the effective number of annihilation electrons of the molecule.
