Abstract

Investigation of the mechanisms and scattering characteristics of nonlinear noise and analysis of the methods of search for noise sources seem to be urgent problems. Thus, the analysis shows that the difference in the mean noise at the odd and even harmonics is considerable in the case of extended sets of non linear scatterers (NS) when the bulk of these sets is in the plane of the incident wave as well as when the NS are arranged in determinate fashion. In the latter case, the level of nonlinear products can be reduced by appropriate arrangement of their sources. Similar to the system of linear scatterers, the average number of peaks of the signal envelope, when the incident field frequency and the viewing angle are changed, depends on the longitudinal and tranverse dimension of the set, respectively, all other conditions being equal. This fact can be used for assessment of the size of the domain occupied by the noise sources
