Abstract

We have measured the relative survival probability of H2 in the single rovibrational state (v=1, J=1) scattered from room temperature Cu(110) versus incident translational energy. The relative survival probability is found to decrease smoothly from its maximum at 0.08 eV incident translational energy to 0.5 times the maximum at 0.23 eV. We discuss possible loss channels and compare the results to dynamical calculations.
