Abstract

A T-matrix formalism for plane-wave scattering from a fluid-loaded elastic spherical shell near a rough fluid–elastic boundary that includes target–boundary scattering effects [J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 101, 767–788 (1997)] is specialized to scattering from a planar boundary and generalized to include scattering from rigid and soft spheres and finite cylinders with hemispherical endcaps and rigid, soft, fluid, viscoelastic, and fluid-saturated poroelastic sediments. Scattering from a variety of target and sediment combinations is considered, and numerical results are shown that indicate some of the effects of target–boundary scattering and the dependence of target–boundary scattering on target and sediment parameters.
