Abstract

A numerical method is developed to determine the electromagnetic field scattered by homogeneous imperfectly conducting and impedance objects of irregular shape. An integral equation for the induced surface currents on the body surface is derived and solved numerically by the method of moments. Numerical results are given for a sphere with different surface impedances and for lossy finite circular and elliptic cylinders. The results are compared with the Mie series solution for spheres and with the integral equation formulation of bodies of revolution for the finite circular cylinder.
