Abstract

The scattering and transmission of sound power flow, or sound intensity, are calculated for plane waves incident on a solid elastic sphere in water. Since sound intensity is the same vector quantity in both the solid and the liquid media, the flow of sound power around and through the sphere can be treated as an entity. In addition to the flow of sound power, distributions of reactive intensity and potential and kinetic energy densities are computed. Extensive use was made of Mathematica in this work.
