Abstract

Bad weather will lead to the decline of image quality of outdoor acquisition, especially the rain or snow weather. At present, most of the raindrops or snowflakes removing methods are focused on video, while there are few studies on single image rain or snow removal. In this paper a scatter inpainting algorithm to remove the raindrops or snowflakes in a single image is be proposed. In order to fully consider the boundary information of damaged region, the proposed method continuously to scan the pixel color values near the seed points with scatter lines and fill the damaged region, and repaired from outside to inside. The experiment results show that the proposed method could remove the raindrops or snowflakes, and retain most image details in a single image.
