Abstract

Empirical evidence suggests that addressing scapular muscle deficits may be an important component of rehabilitation in patients with Lateral Epicondylalgia (LE). However, there is limited descriptive data directly assessing scapular muscle performance in patients with LE. The primary purpose of this study was to describe scapular strength, endurance, and muscle thickness (measured by rehabilitative ultrasound imaging (RUSI)) in patients with LE compared to a control group. Our secondary purpose was to examine the same measures of muscle performance in a comparison of the patients involved and uninvolved limbs.
