Abstract
Spiral growth patterns of epitaxial YBa 2Cu 3O 7-x (YBCO) thin films grown on (100)MgO substrates by off-axis magnetron sputtering have been observed by scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). The density of spirals did not change by the growth temperature but it was strongly influenced by the annealing of the substrates.
