Abstract
The properties of a hybrid scanning, optical-electronic image processor are described, pointing out its ability to enhance the flexibility of optical processors while retaining, to a large extent, their advantage of speed. Some experimental results demonstrating the advantage of a scanning optical recognition system are given.
