Abstract

A newly developed S canning L aser E nhanced E lectrochemical M icroscopy (SLEEM) has been applied for corrosion studies. A focused infra-red laser beam was scanned over a metallic specimen which was polarized at a constant potential. Increase in the anodic current accelerated by a localized temperature rise was detected as a function of position. The image of enhanced anodic current distribution was successfully obtained for the two phase stainless steel polarized at an over-passive potential.
