Abstract

Ecological interfaces have been created for a variety of safety-critical domains. A vast majority of these designs are the product of a single designer or a small, integrated team. We describe a unique effort whereby three teams distributed across three cities on two continents conducted a work domain analysis, and then designed and implemented an ecological interface. We extract implications for scaling up the EID framework and managing distributed design efforts.
