Abstract

Experimental results are presented for high Reynolds number turbulent boundary layers. A flat plate zero pressure gradient layer has been studied in a new high Reynolds number boundary layer tunnel. Measurements were made of the mean flow in the Reynolds number range of 3.6 × 103 < R θ < 6.0 × 104 based on momentum thickness. The data supports the existence of a logarithmic law of the wall in the overlap region and constants κ= 0.41 and A = 5.0 are found to best fit the data.
