Abstract
Results are given of a scale model study to ascertain whether closure in a supported roadway is dependent upon ribside pack width, pack density and the presence of a dummy ribside waste. It was found that floor lift increased with decreasing ribside pack width, that both roof lowering and floor lift were greatest in roadways with solid packing and that floor lift was lower in roadways with a dummy ribside waste.
