Abstract

Homogeneous nanocomposite films composed of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and silver (Ag) nanoparticles were produced by using energetic-impact deposition (EID). The EID process of a mixture composed of CNT and Ag nanoparticles shows two important phenomena: (1) collision-induced particle growth of Ag nanoparticles and (2) intervention of CNTs in the growth of Ag particles. Resultantly, the composite film is homogeneous and has good field emission (FE) properties comparable to those of the conventional CNT films produced by using chemical vapor deposition or organic-binder-assisted printing methods.
