Abstract

Institutionalizing psychoanalysis despoils what it means to create. Training should be student driven, with no imposed rules or regulations, no licensing or credentialing, and in the ideal institute teachers would teach for the love of their craft. Then, instead of disdaining a dogma-ridden, seemingly irrelevant profession, the public might rediscover its love affair with a process that offers richly absorbing intimacy and thrilling insights.
