Abstract

The results of Hartree-Fock calculations for 16O are given. The following nucleon-nucleon potentials have been examined: 1) Hamada-Johnston, 2) Kallio-Kolltveit, and 3) the Kallio-Kolltveit interaction modified by the dependence on local density suggested by Bethe. The infinite repulsive core is treated in the separation method for even states of the Hamada-Johnston and Kallio-Kolltveit potentials, and in the reference spectrum method for the odd states of the Hamada-Johnston potential. The density dependence increases the energy from over- to underbinding. It also leads to much better agreement of the calculated radius with electron scattering data.
