Abstract

Sarcopenia and bone fracture are now recognized as important issues in elderly and/or long-term dialysis patients. However, the relationships among bone parameters, muscle mass, and bone fracture currently remain unclear. We investigated whether the modified creatinine index (MCI) and alkaline phosphatase (ALP), as an estimate of skeletal muscle mass and bone parameters, respectively, affect the risk of long-term bone fracture in maintenance hemodialysis patients.
