Abstract
Sarcosporidia were first described in the one-humped camel or dromedary ( Camelus dromedarius) from Egypt by Mason (1910) and designated as Sarcocystis cameli. Since then sarcosporidiosis in dromedaries has been reported occasionally by other research workers on camel diseases and recently from countries where these animals still play an important economical role such as the United Arab Republic ( El-Afifi, Abden & El-Sawah, 1963), Egypt ( El-Etreby, 1970), Sudan ( Ginawi & Shommein, 1977), Iran ( Rahbari, Bezargani & Rak, 1981), Kazakhstan/USSR ( Kuraev, 1981) and Morocco ( Kirmse, 1986). The present investigation was conducted to show the prevalence of Sarcocystis sp. in dromedaries of Afghanistan.
